We made it through another week with URL and I have to say it gets a little easier each week. I know we had some technology issues, but things will get better as we go. Again, thank you for being that silent educating partner at home with us!
Below are your announcements and information for the week. Please read carefully and reach out with any questions.
I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing weekend surrounded by friends and family. Have a happy Labor Day! I will see everyone on Tuesday!

Below are your announcements and information for the week. Please read carefully and reach out with any questions.
- Curriculum Night- Curriculum Night will be next Thursday, September 10th in the evening. The times are listed below. The sessions will be identical, so please choose whichever works best for you. If you use the same device your child uses to sign on each morning, it should be pretty seamless. It also helps me know who I am talking with 😊. I will post a link to both sessions in the General Channel of your child’s MS Teams account or you can go to the calendar, 9/10, and click “join”.
- 4:55-5:05 PTA Meeting
- 5:05-5:35 Session 1
- 5:45-6:15 Session 2
- Curriculum Night Survey- Please complete the survey to help us gather questions to address during Curriculum Night. It can be found here.
- Small Groups- This week, I started to introduce small groups during reading, writing, math, and conference time at the end of the day. I will show students the power point with their group members along with expected activities for each group while I am meeting with groups. I will be calling students through MS Teams, so please don’t log off of MS teams until the end of the day so they can hear when I am calling them. I am still tweaking groups and students for conferences based on need, diagnostic testing, and student data.
- Epic Books- This is a great resource to use for the 20 minute independent reading time each night. I have assigned books based on student BAS levels, however; when I get done with BAS testing I will need to update levels.
- Raz Kids- 2nd grade is going to use Raz Kids as an online reading platform. Raz Kids is a fantastic resource that provides books that are on an appropriate level for your child. I will introduce your students to Raz Kids next week, but if you would like to explore with your child I have provided the login information below.
- Go to https://www.kidsa-z.com
- Teacher: mslamaster
- Choose your child’s first name
- Password is your child’s first name
- 🚗 Curbside library book pick up for students will also begin in mid-September and complete details and information will be sent to you next week. Students who participate will request general categories of books and will be given several to take home and read, then return later. All returned books will be isolated for 72 hours before going back into circulation.
- Class Dojo- If you would like to join our Class Dojo to see points your child earns at school, please use the link found here: https://www.classdojo.com/invite/?c=CR23C3D. You will be asked to either log in or sign up and I will approve any one trying to join. This is a great way to see the amazing way your child follows expectations during URL!
- Student feedback- You may be wondering what kind of feedback your child is getting on their assignments. Student feedback can look like a variety of ways: verbal, a “like” on their assignment, using an emoji, or providing written feedback. You will always know in advance before your child is going to complete a graded assignment to go into the gradebook.
- 2nd Grade Website- https://npes2ndgrade.weebly.com/
- Lesson Plans- Weekly lesson plans for 2nd grade can be found here. https://www.fultonschools.org/Page/17553
- Reminder- Your kids are doing a great job returning after independent work time. Please remind them to watch the time or set a timer to make sure they are not late to our sessions.
I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing weekend surrounded by friends and family. Have a happy Labor Day! I will see everyone on Tuesday!
