Dear Amazing Parents!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! How can I thank everyone enough for all the volunteers for our Winter Party (Mandy Carter, Lynda Ali, Kerri Bracken, Nicole Tracey, Dorothy DePasquale, Mary-Ellen Miller, and Paula Stolarik, It was a wonderful day full of rice crispy treat Rudolph treats, hot potato snowman game, popcorn, reindeer games, and a snowman contest! It was great time!
Also, thank you for all the sweet holiday notes, treats, gifts, and gift cards. I love everything and will put all to good use! You are amazing parents and feel so blessed to have your child this year.
I am sending home Thursday folders on Friday. I was hoping I would be able to hand back the math assessments, but I have several students that haven't taken it yet, so they will be coming in 2020.
We will be starting a poetry unit in writing and reading.
In math we will be working on applying base ten understanding. This includes adding up to four 2-digit numbers, adding and subtracting within 1,000 (hang onto your hat for this one), mentally adding 10 or 100 to a number within 900, understanding and explaining addition and subtraction strategies, solving word problems with money, drawing a picture graph and bar graph (including analyzing data).
In word work we will begin the scr & str sounds.
In social studies we will begin astronomy.
Have a wonderful holiday break filled with hot cocoa, family, and friends!
Laura
