Hello Amazing Parents,
Book Fair is coming soon, so be thinking of what Scholastic books you would like to purchase. We have our book buying preview on November 9th. If you are interested in attending our Thanksgiving feast with your child, the paperwork was sent home last week. Please get the $ in as soon as possible if you are interested.
In reading we will have solved many mysteries in our classroom and your child has been working with their co-detective to figure out their mystery from the book they are reading. The students are enjoying this mystery unit. We will finalize our unit with a celebration with 2nd graders where they will teach students that mystery readers can use what they learned in all stories, not just mysteries. This will be Friday, November 11th. I would love to have a few parent volunteers to help with treats and snacks for our students so they can have a wonderful celebration. It might be fun to have a mystery theme, but I am okay with anything...any volunteers?
We started our economy unit. This sounds like a boring unit, but it is one of my favorite units to teach. Especially when we relate the economy to the three little pigs and an invisible economy man. You will have to ask your child about this when we get to this.
If you have Ms. Lamaster for math:
We will have a math assessment over unit 2 on Wednesday. This covers multiplication, division, problem solving, multiples, prime, composite, factors, multiplication with arrays, and multiplication using the box method (2 digit x 2 digit only). I have review this with all the students. They know it, but they need to take their time on the test. Most of the mistakes on the last test were silly, rushing mistakes. We reviewed their pre-assessment together and this went home with the students on Thursday of last week. We will then begin our pre-assessment on our next unit which is fractions--Yahoo!!
Here is the homework for this week:
Monday-No homework-Enjoy Halloween
Tuesday-4th grade IXL E.7
Wednesday-4th grade IXL Q.1
Friday-4th grade IXL Q.2
Have an wonderful weekend,
Laura Lamaster
