Hello Wonderful Parents,
International Night was full of awesomeness!! I am always amazed with the talent of our students. Alex did a wonderful job playing the piano with his sister (could you sign me up for lessons :), Camila's food was amazing and I wish I would have gotten more, Isabella-I loved your costume and all the interesting items at your booth. If I missed anyone I am so sorry, but it was a busy night and a lot of people.
We begin testing the week we get back from spring break. We will spend this week reviewing to prepare them for this test. We are having a spirit week to encourage everyone to do their best on the test. Here are our spirit days:
Monday 4/10- Rock Star- “You’re going to ROCK the test!”
In reading & writing we are reviewing reading and writing skills we learned this year and will discuss test taking strategies. The students are editing their legend (or folktale, myth, or fable) that were due this Monday. Several of the students didn't finish this assignment even after I gave them work time last week and this week in school. On Friday we went to the computer lab so they could type their story (and get used to typing on the keyboard for Georgia Milestones). We typed this up using a Google doc so they can work on this at home. I also sent them home with their rough draft so they could finish typing this into the computer. Some of the students did not have time to enter their entire story into their document. I told them not to create a title page or pictures yet. We will talk about this and create this later. After they have typed their rough draft in the computer I will be conferencing with them about their story. With writing, it is always a process and many times students think it makes sense and they have edited it, only to find areas of improvement. When they are done they will be very proud and glad they worked so hard on writing a story they will enjoy sharing with another class (after Georgia Milestones).
Results were sent home for Mary McLeod Bethune assessments. We will be having a quiz over Eleanor Roosevelt on Tuesday. They have vocabulary words in their social studies journals (I told them to put them in their backpacks) and they have a graded crossword puzzle with information as well. They also have a passage about Eleanor Roosevelt along with questions we completed as a classroom assignment. Most of the students finished, but I had them take it home so they could use to study with and finish if they need to. This is due on Monday. We will begin Franklin D. Roosevelt Wednesday.
If you have Ms. Lamaster for math:
We reviewed our last unit assessment over measurement. Several of the students asked to take this assessment home. I am happy to do this, but I have had difficulty getting these tests returned in the past. If you would like to see the test just email me and I will be happy to give the math data binder which will have their last assessment in it.
This week we will be very busy reviewing for Georgia Milestones. The IXL homework reflects a review for the year. We are going back to the beginning of the year with our review so there aren't any gaps in our learning for Georgia Milestones. Here is a website that covers all the math concepts for 3rd grade in a fun review format: Review for Georgia Milestones Ms. Lamaster's Class
Homework:
Monday 3.2-A.13; 4.1-C.7
Wednesday 3.2-B.9; 4.1-D.30
Friday 3.2 C.15; 4.1-G.4
Have a wonderful weekend!
