Thank you so much to our parent volunteers for making our Georgia Cookie Regions party a successful fun learning experience: Alyssa Siegel, Kim Samari, Suneetha Pallapothula,, & Nithya Balamurugan. The students absolutely loved it!
Curriculum:
We will have a end of unit Reading assessment this week. There really isn't anyway to study for these, just keep reading at home, logging those books into your chiid's agenda, ask your child questions after they read, and make sure you are signing their agendas with the book and amount of time they read. Be an active part of their education--it takes a village!
In English we will be learning about nouns words. The skill this week is the /ea/ vowel team. The Word Work words are: seat, meal, ear, clean, and dream. The Red Words are: been, after, who, and a review of prior red words.
Science: The students took a test over the Georgia regions, rivers, and land forms. We will start a unit on matter this week. This is a fun, but difficult unit. They will learn about the types of matter and physical properties of matter.
If you are in Ms. Lamaster's math class:
Students will be taking their first Unit 1 test on Tuesday. I sent home a study guide last week, be sure and study with your child. Some children are still struggling with writing numbers in expanded form, base ten blocks, and written form.
They will also be taking a pre assessment basic facts relating to Numbers in Base Ten, addition & subtraction. We are starting to take fluency fact tests over addition each week. Make sure your child knows their facts. It is the building blocks of all our math work.
Don't forget the study guide and parent letter with information to help your child be successful for the test on Monday.
We are starting Unit 2 with Numbers & Operations. This includes addition and subtraction.
Have a wonderful week!
