Hi Amazing Parents,
It was great to see students and parents at International night (Taste of New Prospect)! What fantastic food, country displays, and fashion show.
Don't forget that students will be going to the Book Fair Monday at 9:25 to purchase their books. I will try to send out a reminder about this so you don't forget to send $ if you would like your child to purchase books.
Curriculum:
Reading & Writing: Students finished their nonfiction writing and we will begin a new unit writing realistic fiction. This ties into our new reading unit where the students will be reading fiction stories and diving into character understanding and development.
Grammar and curriculum: We will continue to study verbs and will be looking into irregular verbs this week. In word work we will be studying /ow/ & /ou/.
Math: We started a new measurement unit. This covers: time, measuring length with inches, feet, yards, millimeters, centimeters, meters, collecting data, making bar, and pictographs.
Social Studies: We continue to study early Georgia. We have been learning about Cherokee and Creek Indians, Trail of Tears, Sequoya, Tomochichi, and this week we will learn about Mary Musgrove and James Olgelthorpe.
Have a great weekend,
Laura
