Hi Amazing Parents!
We are planning our field trip for March 26th to Arbington Farms. I will be sending home field trip forms in Thursday folders. Please get these forms back as soon as possible. Remember that you need to send a sack lunch with your child on that day if you are not purchasing a sack lunch from the cafeteria.
We have been working on random acts of kindness. The students have been doing a great job of doing these and recognizing when other students are doing a kind act.
Curriculum This Week:
Writing:
We are continuing to write scientific writing journals for our experiments. This week we did an experiment with ramps and cars to see if they travel farther on the carpet or the tile. Then we made our ramp higher to see if the car will go farther on the carpet and tile. This week we will be doing an experiment with catapult.
Reading:
We have been reading in book clubs, sharing what we have learned by teaching the class, and making posters from what they have learned to present for our gallery walk this week.
Students will be taking a reading comprehension assessment this week.
Word Work and Grammar: We have been learning multiple meaning words and this week we will be learning about commas in a series. Word work
Math: We will have a quiz on Friday over everything we have learned so far in our geometry unit. The students will be doing another math mystery with a Leprachaun and a pot of gold while they review their math facts they have learned so far this year. We will continue studying Geometry up until the last week before spring break. We will have a ice cream party after spring break for all the students that have passed their fact fluency timed tests. Please make sure your student knows their addition and subtraction facts up to 12 so they can be successful with these timed tests.
Social Studies/Health: We will finish Juliette Gordon Low this week and begin a health unit about germs, proper hygiene, and nutrition.
Stay dry this weekend,
Laura
