Dear Parents,
Just a heads-up about Student council which begins in 3rd grade. I will be handing these forms out on Friday, Autust 28 and are due no later than Wednesday, September 9th. They will not accept any applications after 2:30 P.M. on that day. We have vision and hearing screening on Friday. Please make sure your child is wearing glasses on that day so we can get an accurate screening for your child. J Have a great Monday! Laura Lamaster
Hi Parents :)
Don't forget your child's math assignment tonight is IXL, 4th grade A.1. The username is their first initial and full last name with @npe after it (username=llamaster@npe Their password is: 123456 I set up new to New Prospect students in IXL. If your child was at New Prospect last year their username and password is the same. Each week your child will have 2 days to complete an IXL assignment. I will be checking Wednesday to see if students have completed Monday's assignment (A.1), and I will be checking Friday to see if students have completed Wednesdays assignment (A.2), etc. Please let me know if you don't have a computer, or are not able to logon to the IXL math website. Also, I don't know if you know this but today is National Roller Coaster Day!! Here is a math problem solving activity that related to this special day. I thought it might be fun to challenge your child tonight. http://bedtimemath.org/fun-math-national-roller-coaster-day/There are different levels--see how high your child can get :) Enjoy and have a wonderful evening, Laura Lamaster.
1. Be responsible for your behavior at all times in the school. 2. Be truthful with self, classmates, and teachers. 3. Be trustworthy. Be ready when class starts without the teacher having to ask. When working in a group do your fair share of work for the team. 4. Use active listening. When someone is talking please listen with your eyes, ears, and heart. 5. Be respectful/no put downs. Follow the golden rule: Treat others the way you would like to be treated. 6. Nothing but your personal best will be accepted. Take your time. Think long and hard...the quickest way is not always the best. No ripped/wrinkled papers, check your spelling, use complete sentences, reread sentences to make sure they make sense. Read and follow the directions carefully. 7. Take pride in your school. We have a great school full of super teachers, administrators, and students. You are a class act...act like it :) Curriculum this week: Reading & Language Arts-- Students will be bringing home their composition book to create/design the cover. This can be completed with personal pictures, drawings, pictures of favorite things, important people in their life, etc. You might want to begin collecting pictures for this over the weekend so when I send them home on Monday it won't be such a major undertaking. Please have your child return their composition notebook each day so we can write in them. Skills: Asking/Answering Questions while reading, Capitalizing words in a title, plot & setting. Your child should be reading a book at their level for at least 15 minutes each night to improve their reading stamina and vocabulary. Math-- (Please check the blog of your child's math teacher for specific information) If your child has me for Math: Skills: ACC & Adv will be studying whole numbers, place value, & rounding in computation. I will be handing out a Place Value Choice Board on Monday. Students need to choose 3 activities from the board. This is due 9/17. I don't want the students to rush through this. They should have plenty of time to have fun with this and be proud of their activities. Homework for this week: Monday-IXL A.1; Wednesday IXL A.2; Friday IXL A.3 If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected]. Hope your child had a wonderful week, I know I sure enjoyed them. Enjoy your weekend, Laura Lamaster, M.S.
