Dear Parents,
First of all, I apologize that I didn't send this out yesterday, but I wanted to talk with the students first about this and I had students out for TAG yesterday.
So the students can buy create and buy things with their Lamaster Bucks they have been earning throughout the year we are going to culminate the year and incorporate what the students learned about economy into the real world, the students have selected an good or a service that they will produce. Here are the details:
1. Come up with a catchy name for their business & website (they don't have to create a website, just include their website name on their poster and any other advertisements they create. I have given each group a poster and most of them have already started this process
2. Develop a copyright (most of them have already done this--wrote their idea down and gave it to me)
3. Develop/design the product or service. There are all kinds of ideas on the internet. I showed them a few ideas today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agvR4LNVJ04
They can only have one product that they take time to create. They can't buy something and resale it. If they are making food they need to do something a little different to make it unique and different so they can call it their own creation. For example, if they are making sugar cookies, add an extra spice, or ingredient to make the recipe their own. We don't have any student food allergies that would pertain to anything the students would make. If you are concerned about your child buying food that is prepared by the students, or have an allergy that I'm not aware of, please let me know and I will certainly understand. Just let me know ahead of time.
4. Coordination, organization, and planning: Most of the students are working with a partner, so this might take a little coordination with information, supplies, or maybe they could plan a time to make them together. One group of girls are making stress balls and they are each creating them at their own home and deciding what kind each is going to make so they will each be unique. They will make their product at home. They will need to bring in a sample of their product so they can present it to the class on Monday or Tuesday. We will have our marketplace on Wednesday.
5. In class they will be creating their poster and commercial for the class. This will all be presented on either Monday or Tuesday, depending on when they bring in a sample of their product or service, and when they complete their poster and commercial.
6. Remember:
-This is just for Lamaster Bucks, not real money.
-This is a fun activity, enjoy and don't stress.
-This isn't meant for you to go out and spend a ton of money. Hopefully, they can make their product/service with supplies you already have at home.
Let me know if you have any further questions and enjoy!!
