Dear Parents,
I sent home Field Trip information with any students that hadn't turned in $ to me. If you turn your $ directly to the office make sure you still get the Field Trip Permission form to me.
We will have our Student Council Class Elections this Friday. Each student that turned in their form by 9/9 will be reading their application in class. A speech is not necessary. Students can ONLY bring in one poster.
We had our first Reading and Georgia Habitats assessments this week. I will be sharing these at parent/teacher conferences, but grades will be posted online.

Curriculum this week:
Reading-We are starting to read nonfiction, and relationship with main idea and details. Students will be completing an online BrainPop lesson and quiz which they will need to submit to me and an IXL assignment. This is actually for writing, but I included it under our reading lesson so it would be easier for the students to understand and navigate.
Writing-The students wrote their first personal narrative that will be graded. I will share more information about during parent/teacher conferences. I am realizing that students are struggling with the correct punctuation for dialogue. Hopefully the IXL assignment will help them through this tricky skill.
Social Studies-We are starting a unit on Democracy. The students are going to go on a virtual tour of ancient Greece and relate this to architecture in our area.
Math-If you have Ms. Lamaster for math:
We will have our Unit 1 assessment Friday. I sent home student Math Data Binders. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO RETURN THESE DAILY WITH THE STUDENTS! This has their Unit 1 study packet. We have review this in class and they have graphed their pretest results. After they take the post test they will see how much they have learned when they graph these results as well. They are also learning percentages and fractions as they use these to update their pre & post bar graphs.
Homework:
Monday- 4th grade IXL-C.4
Wednesday-4th grade IXL-G.1
Friday-4th grade IXL-G.2
Have a wonderful week,
Laura Lamaster
