Hello Wonderful Parents,
We continue to study drama and poetry in reading. Students reading The Mouse and the Motorcyle were given a project to complete by February 8th. They will build a mouse house for Ralph S. Mouse. They need to design and build a home specifically for a mouse with a motorcycle. They also need to write a letter persuading Ralph to move in the house, remember your house isn't the only mouse house in town. They need to explain why the house they build is perfect, give details, be creative. They will be presenting their house and reading their letter to the class. I sent home a letter explaining this project last week. Students reading other books will complete similar projects as well when they finish reading their book.
In writing we continue to learn about opinion and persuasive writing. Last week we worked on our introduction/lead and this week we will work on writing progression, staying focused, and using transitions.
In science we began fossils and will have a short quiz this week. Students need to read, watch and complete the assignments under science lessons on my website. I have several IXL assignments, BrainPop, and some interesting videos your child will enjoy watching. They are very excited about fossils. We will be making fossils out of modeling clay which will help the students understand a cast and model.
If you are in Mrs. Lamasters math class:
We continue to study fractions, measurement, and data. Your child has a math workbook they might be bringing home to complete assignments, or study for an assessment. They are a helpful resource because they are organized with a glossary in the back to help students understand key math skills, pictures to help explain math concepts, and practice worksheets for student practice. When we assign worksheets I will give time in class for them to complete this assignment, but if they don't finish, or if they want you to check it at home they will bring it home, but will need to remember to hand this in the next day during class.
Monday Homework
3.2-IXL 3rd grade X.3
4.1 IXL 4th grade A.5
Wednesday Homework

4.1 IXL 4th grade R.2
Friday Homework

Have an amazing week,
Laura Lamaster
