Dear wonderful Parents,
Paperwork was sent home about our Think First, Stay Safe program. If you want your child to not go to the THINK FIRST STAY SAFE – please sign the form that was sent home and return as soon as possible. Opt-out letters are due back by 2/1/16. No action is needed if you want your child to attend this program.
Report cards were sent home today. Please return just the signed envelope at your earliest convenience.
In reading the students continue to learn about poetry, drama, verbs, figurative language, and elements of poetry. The students love to read Shel Silverstein and I found a fantastic website that they might be fun and helpful: http://www.shelsilverstein.com/ We will have our reading assessment the week of January 25. Please remember, if your child read The Mouse & the Motorcycle the mouse house & persuasive letter are due 2/8. We are reviewing the elements of friendly letters this week so they will know how to write/type their letter. I am okay with them typing this letter since it is a skill they need to begin to learn and it will be good practice for them. I have another group that is reading The Curse of the Cheese Pyramid. These students will also be completing projects. When we finish this book. I will send home a letter with information about their project when we get close to the end.
In writing we continue to write an opinion essay. We studied transition words, introductions/leads this week. Next week we will work on spelling and using suffixes, editing the body of our essays, and conclusions.
We will have a fossil assessment on Friday. I sent home the results of a quiz we took, a study guide, and their science book so your child can study over the weekend. We will have another class assignment grade and a quiz next week as well.
If you have Ms. Lamaster for math:
We are beginning a new math series. This is a great organized resource for students to use. Students & parents can go online to http://www.fultonschools.org, go to Students & Parents navigation tab, click on Resources. Under students find McGraw Hill link. Click the "sign in" button and students use their student [email protected] for the username and student's birthdate for the passcode: mmddyyyy.
We will be covering fractions, decimals, measurement, & data.
