Parents,
Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the sweet notes, treats, flowers, highlighters, chips, and gift certificates. It was so thoughtful, kind, and generous. I always tell my students I have the best of the best class and it is so true!
Field Day is Monday, May 15th. Please make note of this! This year we are on teams and our class has the color Red. They are welcome to wear their red field day t shirts. But if you have any red hats, bandannas, hair color, sunglasses, etc. please dress in red. Please also make sure your kiddo has on closed toe shoes, shorts, and a water bottle. Water will be provided during field day, but they will need extra water when they get back in the room. Parents will be providing us with snacks for the room after our field day. Thank you parents! We will also be eating lunch in the classroom that day as well. IF ANY PARENT HAS THE MOVIE BECAUSE OF WINN DIXIE I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THE STUDENTS WATCH THIS AFTER FIELD DAY. WE READ THE BOOK IN CLASS AND THEY HAVE BEEN WANTING TO SEE THE MOVIE. I would appreciate it :)
If you have any questions or concerns please let us know!
I know this is late notice, but with Spring Showcase pushed back it has put a bind in our schedule. We usually have a mini economy marketplace at the end of the year. This is a fun activity that the students love. The young entrepreneurs create a product. They can do this as a group or individually. They have to present their product and business model to me. We talk about price, marketing, ways to improve the product, etc. Then they create an advertisement they will present to the class. They are to make and bring in their product on Wednesday, May 23 to sell at our marketplace. They will use their Lamaster Bucks from our mini economy system to buy products that other entrepreneurs have created. This will take some effort and coordination on your part to possibly get some supplies and bring them to school on Wednesday. This is totally an optional activity, but I think your child will love getting involved and being a young entrepreneur.
The students have been reading and learning about their Animals in their Research Clubs. They are in new groups studying a new animal. They compared and contrasted two animals and they will write about both of them this week.
In writing they have been writing their own fairy tale. I have read a few of the students stories and I can't wait to have them share them with me, each other, and the class.
In social studies the students are finishing their projects for Spring Showcase on Thursday. We will see you from 5:30-7:00
In science students learned and experimented with magnets. They had magnet stations they went to and discovered different attributes of magnets. The students took a quiz over magnets on Friday. I will return these quizzes after 2 students take the quiz, but the others are graded and you can see the grades on Home Access.
In math the students took a review quiz for the year and we reviewed it together. We have been reviewing all the math concepts from the year and the students wrote multi-step word problems and are in the process of publishing these to show the class. The students may be bringing home homework if they don't complete their assignments in class, but from now on students can review for the year on my website and any IXL you feel they need extra help with.
Have a wonderful weekend...Happy Mothers Day!!
